As seen in various Shen Yun dance pieces, the ancient Chinese believed that the bright moon in the night was a realm of celestial wonders that one could potentially visit. This design recalls the Chinese lore of the moon goddess, Chang’e, who lives in a heavenly moon palace with a host of fairy princesses to keep her company.
